DTN COMMENTS: The country is slow to start this morning, but we expect
packer inquiry will improve as the day progresses. Asking prices are around
$97 in the South, and $158 to $160 in the North. Light to moderate trade has
taken place this week at $95 to $97, mostly $95 in the South, fully steady
with the bulk of the prior week's business. Northern dressed deals have had
a range of $152 to $160, mostly $157 to $160, steady to $3 higher than last
week's weighted average basis Nebraska. Having said all of that, we should
need to see more trade this week, especially in the North. Beef cutouts are
expected to be mixed with light to moderate box movement.
